The goal of this system to help you get more, and better, online reviews for your business.
Winning in online search – whether that’s Google, chatGPT, or something else, is heavily influenced by the reviews your business receives online.
I’m sure you already know that, but might be perfectly set up to get the reviews your business deserves.
This system is entirely fluid – use the whole system, use part of it, adapt to your needs.

There are 5 sections in this system. Adapt each for your purposes, the more personal each step is for YOUR business, the better your results will be.

1️⃣ Your Review Places
We recommend every business is actively seeking reviews on at least 2 platforms, 3 if suitable.
The most trusted reviews are:
Google (via your Google Business Profile)
Facebook (via your Facebook Business Page)
Trustpilot
Yelp
Trip Advisor.
There are other industry specific places as well that might suit your business. Be on there if you feel they are valuable.
Having several options is useful as Google and other search options scour the internet looking for feedback about a business. Also, some people might not like or cannot leave a Google Review, but might be able to leave a Facebook review for example.
Images below show you where to find your links (URL’s) for both Google and Facebook Reviews. For other platforms, if you have a review option, you’ll know where the link is.
If you need help, reach out.
For Google, go to business.google.com

x
Click as shown, you’ll see a URL to copy, as well as a handy QR code too.
For Facebook, go to your page, and you’ll see something like this:

x
Click on “More”, you’ll see a “reviews” tab.
This will show you the reviews you have, and the URL will be, in our case https://www.facebook.com/goodoilmarketingfuel/reviews
Use that URL for reaching out for Facebook Reviews.
x
2️⃣ Build a Review Page on your Website
This is easier than it sounds, and serves 3 purposes:
- Makes it easy to get reviews as your information is in one place.
- Helps showcase your reviews to other people, helping you convert leads into sales.
- Good for SEO as well. People WILL Google “your business name + reviews”
Here is our Reviews Page: https://goodoil.marketing/reviews/
I’m certainly not a web designer, so it could LOOK better, but it’s got what you need.
An opportunity to catch less than stellar reviews before they hit the internet, the links required for people to leave reviews, as well as a cool Reviews Widget at the bottom, showcasing our other reviews.
On the review page you’ll see we’ve got a widget that looks like this:

x
That particular widget comes from the Elfsight.com website. Other good options are Featureable.com, and Trustindex.io.
x
3️⃣ Get Reviews from Previous Clients
This step is pure magic.
In a short period of time, you can get dozens of reviews PLUS you might get some old clients back to place new orders or become clients again.
The idea is simply to reach out to as many previous clients / customers as possible, asking for feedback, and if possible, a Review.
That’s it.
Here is an example email:
“Hi John,
Ed here from “Aerospray“.
Hope you are doing great.
At some point in the past, you’ve been a customer, and we’d like to simply ask you this – is there anyway we could improve your experience with us?
If so, hit reply, I’d love to hear from you.
If everything was great, we’d really appreciate an online review – we’ve got this cool page here with all the links and stuff: (insert page url here).
As a thanks for being a client, we’ve also got this 20% off deal here too (insert code here).
Reach out if you need a hand with anything,
Regards,
Ed”
Adapt for you, or ask for help, we’ll help.

4️⃣ Buy Review Mate or equivalent
We strongly recommend, especially if your business has a store front or reception area, that you further tip the scales in your favour, by buying some actual hardware that people can scan, and instantly review your business while they are there.
Something like this:

x
There are quite a few options to buy this sort of product now.
Our favourite is a local Kiwi business called Review Mate.
We have a discount voucher for that business, use “corey20” at checkout and you’ll get a 20% discount.
Click HERE to visit the Review Mate site.
We also get a small commission for the introduction. Honestly, we’d recommend it anyway even without the commission, it’s a great idea, very affordable, and simply works.
Your Google Business Profile dashboard does include a QR code now too, so you can great creative with that if you like.
If you run your business on a good ecommerce platform like Shopify, as Holistic Hound do, you’ll find some good inbuilt tools that achieve the same outcome.
I personally was in a local cafe recently, French Soul Cafe here in Tauranga, and they had plenty of visible review scanning options at front of house, very sharp!
x
5️⃣ Ongoing Process
The last, and most important step, is to standardise what you do now.
Do not leave this up to chance.
At the very minimum, we recommend business owners dedicate at least a 30 min time slot each week to reaching out to last weeks customers etc, manually asking for feedback / reviews.
There are more sophisticated options – like software businesses that automate this for you with emails and SMS.
These are very effective, but obviously come with a cost. The cost in my opinion could well be one of the best business investments you ever make, so we’ll likely partner with someone at some point and make some recommendations.
We’d also recommend you add your Reviews Page to your Email signature block, and drop it onto your social media places too.
NOTE: There is also a video below with more explanation of this system.
