{really important because its the easiest way to get on page 1 of Google – that’s where all the $$ are}

Google Business Profile

{also called Google My Business | Google Maps | Google 3 Pack | the bit of Google where people LOOK and CLICK}

“Get me up top of Google” – it’s that basic!

That’s what clients / business owners / people I talk to online want.

I talk about SEO – they talk about leads – I talk about Google rankings – they talk about sales – the top of Google is THE place to be!!

Nice, simple business outcome – up the top of Google search where customers are looking.

Business owners in 2022 understand how important being up the top of Google is.

Page 1 of Google gets more than 95% of the clicks for any particular search, and page 2…. well let’s not go there.

Getting onto page 1 used to be very difficult with years of hard graft of SEO, to stand a chance at ranking up the top of Google.

Now, many small businesses can bypass that process, with a well optimized Google Maps listing.

Getting a Google Business Profile is the first step in that process.

Let’s claim or add your listing – follow these steps:

STEP 1 -Adding a Listing

👉 Sign into Google Maps.

You should see an image like the image below.

The Maps, and also your Google profile image in the top right, indicating that you are signed in to Google.

If you do not see your profile image in the top right, you need to sign in to Google to be able to complete the following steps.

Signing into Google just means having your usual Gmail account active on the computer.

You could also be signed into Google by having your YouTube account open and active.

Right – you are signed into Google and on the Maps page?

Let’s move on.

STEP 2

👉 Click on the 3 lines.

You’ll then see a few options pop up on the left hand side, as shown in the following image.

STEP 3

👉 Click on the left as shown.

Add your business” is the option you need to select.

Google will then guide you through some reasonably straight forward steps.

IF you have any difficulty at this point, comment below or reach out to us, we’ll help you out.

STEP 4

👉 Follow the steps.

Keep your business details consistent with other places you are listed online, so that Google understands who you are, where you are, and what you do.

For example, use the same Business Name, the same phone number, same address, and of course the same business website URL. This is important because Google likes consistency across the internet.

STEP 1 -Claiming a Listing

👉 Sign into Google Maps

{same as before in the Add a listing section}

STEP 2 – Search and Find

👉 Find your business on the Map

STEP 3 – Click on it

👉 Then click “Claim your Business”

STEP 4 – Manage Now

👉 Follow the steps

You’ll be asked to verify etc… it’s pretty straight forward.
